Stations and transportation of the Inca Trail
The 4-day trek leaves Cusco by van to Km 82. The return is a bus to Aguas Calientes, a train to Ollantaytambo, and a van back to the city. We tell you about each section.
Transportation on the Inca Trail is organized in sections and is not the same for the outward and return journeys. We explain the van departure from Cusco to Km 82, the entrance checkpoint, the bus to Aguas Calientes, the train to Ollantaytambo, and the return to the city.
All about stations and transportation on the Inca Trail
Start with the section that interests you most; everything points to the same goal: knowing how to get there, how to get back, and what we coordinate.
Departure from Cusco
Early pick-up by van to Km 82 (Piscacucho), the official start of the trek.
Entrance checkpoint
Passports and permits are checked in Piscacucho before crossing to the trail.
Return train
From Aguas Calientes you travel by train to Ollantaytambo.
End of the transfer
From Ollantaytambo we return by van to Cusco; the circuit is coordinated from start to finish.
!
IMPORTANT
Km 82 does not have a train stop
The classic Inca Trail starts in Piscacucho and is reached by road, not by train. We do the pick-up in Cusco and the van ride to the checkpoint. The train comes in at the end: Aguas Calientes–Ollantaytambo and a van back to the city.
