What you eat on the Inca Trail: your meals on the route.

During the four days you neither cook nor carry your food. A team of cooks travels with your group and prepares breakfast, lunch, tea, and dinner at each campsite. Here we tell you what dishes are usually served, how water is managed, and what to do if you have a special diet.

We gathered what travelers ask most about food on the route: menus, schedules, water, and special diets. Each topic has a complete article: tap the link to read the in-depth explanation.

Food on the trek, from morning to night

Start with what interests you most; everything points to the same goal: that you have energy for each section of the hike.

A kitchen team travels with you

Cooks and porters set up the kitchen and dining tent at each campsite.

You eat four times a day

Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner, plus snacks for the trail.

Water is boiled on the route

The team prepares boiled water so you can refill your bottle at each stop.

Notify your diet when booking

If you are vegetarian, vegan, celiac, or have allergies, inform us in advance.

IMPORTANT

Your special diet is notified when booking, not upon arriving at the campsite

The ingredients for the four days are bought in Cusco before leaving and on the route there are no shops to get alternatives. If you are vegetarian, vegan, celiac, or have any food allergy, indicate it in your booking and confirm it at the pre-trek briefing.
