IMPORTANT
You cannot choose where to camp on your own
The most common mistake is to imagine the Inca Trail as a free trek where you pitch your tent wherever you want. In reality, the campsites are designated and regulated: your agency books the spaces according to the authorized itinerary and the staff is in charge of setting up the camp. That is why resting depends largely on a good operation: choosing well who you do the trek with makes the difference between sleeping comfortably or having a difficult night.
